Gaffer's update July 2018

23 July 2018

It's that time of the year again, when i do my best to update you on all whats been happening during pre-Season.

Management Teams have been finalised:
1st team is under the guidance of the same trio: Wayne Hunter, who has settled in a treat at the club and he will play a massive role in taking this club forward, and Graham Lewis, who is now finally involved week in week out (I had to get Nina's approval, which wasn't easy),Graham's coaching alone will make us a much better side,2 people I trust,we work well together, and i hope we don't disappoint.

The Reserves are to be managed by Lee Hackleton. Lee came on board towards the end of last season - he will bring the youngsters through, with more youth playing key, hopefully with a few off the older heads that were part of last year's Reserves. He will be helped by Pete Fuller- it was clear that we need Pete on board again; he has done a cracking job for me the last 2 seasons and I'm convinced his return is so very important Added to that management team is Kev Riches - on his day as a player,Kev we all know can be a dominant force, but now he has the added responsibility of being management; he knows the role is a tough one,but he has proved he is keen, and I'm convinced that Kev won't let anybody down.

The A Team,AGAIN is in the hands of Dave Went,a stalwart of the club,so very loyal, manages it his way, always gets a side out. This year during Pre-Season he has gained another friend, the club Wheelbarrow,it hasn't left his side, and it will be with him in the dugout I'm sure...

U18's are again in the safe hands of Graham Lewis, and he will be assisted by Mark Vauden. These 2 are a great team, the U18's have come on leaps and bounds under their guidance, and as a club,we are very lucky to have these guys.

We have appointed a Youth Co-Ordinator,this is to bring the youth and Adult teams closer together, and to be a voice for the youth sections to bring to the table. This is in the hands of Ollie Flood,he has taken the role on with confidence,he will be a good guide for us all,he is Bungay through and through, and we know that he will give this role his full attention

We have lost Sam Olley, who has decided to play elsewhere this season,we wish him all the best and he knows he can return whenever he wants. Sam Wooldridge has decided to stay with Gorleston, again we wish him all the best.

Apart from those 2 lads,we have kept the squad together. Shaun Whiteman remains as Captain, and he will lead Brandon Ling,Brannon Soloman,Craig Hunting,Dom Mirner,Jamie Weston,John Riches,Josh Knights,Keith Caley,Lewis Bilham,Mark Clay,Myles Payne,Ryan Cook,Shaun Flint,Thomas Daniels and Thomas Hunter ,all have re-signed,a few clearly being asked to join other clubs(1 in particular),but all have remained focused and are ready to hopefully make a challenge for promotion

I have to say at this stage,we have kept quiet who has signed, just let other clubs do their business and we have remained patient and very positive, and we are delighted to announce the following new players, all have signed: Archie Wallis from Beccles, Ash Canham from Wenhaston, Damon Bensley from Norwich CEYMS, Darrell Wigger has returned from Sherringham, James Gill from Beccles and Tom Wickham also from Beccles, all are very good additions as well as David, as he has played Thurlow Nunn for Gt Yarmouth and Diss Town.

At this stage i also must add the youngsters that have signed for Bungay Town from last season's U16's,Owen Brighton,Jude Cox,Callum Mcmaster,Callum Rudkin,Charlie Lewis,Jamie Besford,Jarred Blades,Lewi Goode, and Archie Flood, all will play a huge part in taking us forward. Added to that is Charlie Orchard,he has had a few injuries, but he has battled back, fitness for Charlie will be key,but still very young,a dominant Centre Half, and hopefully he will return to his form of 18 months ago.

Once the Reserves play Wednesday night,i will be able to name more of those guys,Pete is confident more news to follow very soon.

I wouldn't say we are quite finished with signings, although if anybody does become available,we will only sign them if we feel they are better than what we have got,and being truthful,we are very excited by the squad that we have assembled and we feel we are ready for the 6 remaining friendlies. Blofield,Wroxham Reserves,Scole & Norwich CEYMS are all Ang Comb Prem, all tough games, which is what we need. and also 2 sides who play lower than us,but will provide tough tests, Poringland and Hemsby.
